치주병이란 세균에 의해 발생되는 치아 주위 잇몸의 염증성 질환으로 치주낭 형성, 치은퇴축과 함께 치주인대와 잇몸뼈의 파괴가 일어납니다.40대이상 성인의 80%이상이 앓고 있을 정도로 발생률이 높으며 단 시간에 발생하기 보다 오랜시간에 걸쳐 천천히 진행되기 때문에 꾸준한 구강관리와 함께 정기적인 검사로 예방을 해야 합니다.

치은염 : 잇몸질환의 초기상태
• 잇몸의 염증이 연조직에만 국한되어, 간단한 치료로도 회복이 가능
• 잇몸이 염증 상태로 색이 변하거나 피가 나는 등의 증상, 치주낭 형성, 치조골 파괴 등이 없는 것이 특징
치주염 : 잇몸질환이 많이 진행된 상태
• 이 시기에는 잇몸 뿐 아니라 잇몸 아래 치조골까지 파괴
• 잇몸이 치아 뿌리 끝 쪽으로 이동하고, 치주인대와 치조골이 파괴되면 치아와 치주조직 사이의 부착 소실이 일어나 원래 상태로의 회복이 어려움

치료방법
잇몸질환의 진행단계에 따라 치료방법이 결정되며 초기 진행단계에서 치료하는 것이 가장 좋은 치료 방법입니다.
1단계 : 건강한 잇몸
상치아 표면에 쌓인 치석, 치태를 제거합니다. 칫솔질로는 제거할 수 없는 치석을 제거하며 정기적으로 스케일링을 받는것이 중요합니다.

2단계 : 치은염
치은염이 있는 경우 치아 뿌리의 거칠어진 표면을 매끄럽게 다듬고 잇몸 아래에 형성된 치석을 제거하여 세균 침착을 억제 합니다.
치근활택술
3단계 : 초기 치주염
상잇몸 안쪽에 염증으로 손상된 조직을 제거합니다. 잇몸 깊숙이 있는 염증성 조직을 긁어내어 잇몸이 치유되도록 합니다.
치주소파술
4단계 : 말기 치주염
지치주염이 심각한 경우 치아 주변 잇몸과 뼈에 손상을 입힌 염증을 제거하고 손상된 조직을 재생하고 복원하는 외과적 수술입니다.
